Calverton National Cemetery Solar Ribbon Cutting
Eldor Contracting Corporation, Clean Energy Group's parent company, participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony of the 92 kW solar system installed by the company at the Calverton National Cemetery, the largest cemetery under the National Cemetery Administration.
The system, installed at the Southwest corner of the 1,000 acre property included 408 solar modules mounted on piles facing true “solar south”. Kevin S. Law, LIPA’s President and CEO provided the following statement:
“Using clean renewable sources of energy to preserve our environment is a great way to pay tribute to the brave men and women who fought to protect our country. I commend all the parties involved for their forward thinking in bringing this important project to fruition, which builds upon LIPA’s leadership in the solar energy field.”
The project, issued by the Department of Veteran Affairs in April, is one of the largest ground mounted solar systems on Long Island generating an estimated 120,000kWh’s per year. Gordon Raacke, Executive Director of Renewable Energy Long Island (RELI), commented on the system and the project:
“Solar electric systems on Long Island started with a handful of small residential rooftops but are now popping up everywhere and getting big. The simple reason is that they are cost-effective, reliable, and will operate for decades without using polluting fossil fuels”, he continued, “We commend the Veterans Administration, Congressman Bishop, Eldor Electric and everyone who made this happen, for bringing clean energy to the Calverton National Cemetery.”
Eldor Contracting, and its wholly owned subsidiary Clean Energy Group, specialize in complex electrical projects, including solar and wind energy. |

CEG Awarded Largest Ground Mount PV System On Long Island
The Clean Energy Group, via its parent company Eldor Contracting Corporation, was awarded the largest ground mounted photo-voltaic system on Long Island this month. The project, which is scheduled to kick off in April 2010 is to include 92 kW of solar panels mounted to a Schletter-style ground mounting system.
The system will be installed at the Calverton National Cemetery and is to be located at the Southwest corner of the 900 acre property. CEG partnered with Schott Solar to provide the 408 modules. The company expects the system to be online by July 2010 at which time it will generate approximately 120,000 kWh’s per year. |

CEG Awarded 7.2kW System at Suffolk Community College Brentwood Campus
The Clean Energy Group, via its parent company Eldor Contracting Corporation, was awarded a flagship project at the Brentwood Campus of the Suffolk Community College on Long Island. The 7.2 kW system will be installed in the Suffolk Community College Workforce Development and Training Center building.
A Fat Spaniel monitoring and display system will allow students, faculty and visitors to inter-act with the system and follow the daily solar output via an LCD monitor in a public gathering area for students and the public. Kurt Feldmann, Eldor’s project manager at the Brentwood building described the student and faculty anticipation of the system, “There is a palpable sense among faculty, staff and students that the solar array is something that the school is doing to help defray carbon emissions and they are excited about that.” The system will generate 9,360 kilowatt-hours per year. |
